The Calendar
Lore of the Kingdom
Most people in the kingdom rose at dawn and slept at dusk. Those who needed to count time did so by the moon.
Keeping Time
The calendar of Arnesse followed the cycles of the moon, twelve to the year.
A date gave the day first, then the cycle of the moon, then the year. The first day of the first moon of 763 was written as the 1st Day of the 1st Moon, 763. The letters A.S. sometimes followed a year, although the term was used mostly by scholars, and few people knew what it meant.
By day people used sundials where they could. At night, or under cloud, they measured the hours with candle clocks.
